On the 29th of July 2021 CMH Toyota Alberton introduced the all-new Toyota Yaris GR.
When seeing the GR badge, you know you are about to experience something exhilarating, that’s part of the Toyota Gazoo Racing spirit, now comes the white-hot Gazoo Racing Yaris, the ultimate performance hatch with speed in its blood and DNA from its World Rally Championship-winning sibling.
A dedicated chassis with tuned suspension, a high-revving turbocharged engine, driver-adjustable GR-FOUR permanent all-wheel-drive, short-throw six-speed manual gearbox, lightweight construction, and aerodynamically efficient styling, puts the essence of performance in the Gazoo Racing Yaris. Appropriately, the GR Yaris has been designed from the ground up to deliver extreme performance. Its compact and lightweight, 1.6l, 3-cylinder, DOHC 12-valve engine incorporates competition-honed technologies such as a single-scroll ball bearing turbocharger, multi-oil jet piston cooling, a part machined intake port and a large diameter exhaust. Maximum power output is rated at 198kW @ 6 500r/min and peak torque of 360 Nm available between 3000-4600 r/min, making it the most powerful 3-cylinder production engine in the world and bestowing the GR Yaris with a power-to-weight ratio of 156kW/tonne.
The Toyota GR Yaris comprises two models, each with a 1.6l turbocharged engine. The Rally version offers additional safety, styling, and convenience features.
