The all-new Corolla Cross is fitted with a powertrain configuration that crosses power with efficiency, and performance with responsibility. All models are front-wheel driven and are powered by a four-cylinder, direct-injection 1.8-litre petrol engine that is seamlessly mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). And as the world leader in hybrid powertrain technology, Toyota is also offering the Corolla Cross in an ultra-economical petrol hybrid derivative. In the hybrid models, power is recorded at 72 kW @ 5200 r/min, with a combined system output of the hybrid and conventional motor peaking at 90 kW. Torque figures on the hybrid derivative are recorded at 142 Nm @ 3600 r/min. Modern, elegant and assertively styled, the front of the Corolla Cross features a distinctive black grille with granite grey* accents, flanked by striking LED* headlamps with Daytime Running Lights and an Auto High Beam* function. These sit above the front fog lamps that are integrated into the front apron. Rear fog lamps are available on selected models, with muscular black tones extending to the roof rails*. Viewed from the side, the Corolla Cross features noticeable fender flares, creating a sense of width, and complementing the sleek glass house and C-pillar trim. The alloy wheel design presents a strong but stylish appearance to complement its elevated ride height, made possible by the vehicle’s 161mm ground clearance. The Xi and XS models come with 17” alloys and the XR models with striking 18” alloy wheels. The side mirrors on all models are colour-coded, electrically adjustable, and house the Blind Spot Monitor* warning indicator. Side and rear body cladding contribute to a powerful, rugged off-road appearance. At the rear, large elliptical taillamps with trapezoidal detailing and crease lines provide a sleek and sophisticated look, flanking the rear door that has been designed for optimal ease of accessibility. The result is a vehicle providing an uncompromised cross between form and functionality.
